BLACK | AMERICAN | POETRY
This volume of poetry by John F. Dilworth II explores his experiences of maneuvering through life as a young black man in America thus far in this tumultuous 21st century. Motivating people to be passionate about their purpose and open to the sharing of perspective are the intensions of John’s writings in these collections. The poetry is complimented by the visual artistry of photographer, Carlos York. The poetry and the photography happen to be telling the same stories but through completely different lenses; connected by the backdrop of Atlanta and by being young black men in America. People are hurting and striving but there is beauty in it and purpose in it and that is what the poet and photographer have captured. Some of the images may be tough to truly take in. Some of the words may trigger a variety of emotions, but that is where the healing can be found.
